Arrival of Truck Company 158

Thursday, December 14, 2017 marked a milestone in the history of the Neshannock Township Fire Company and a proud day for the entire Neshannock community. The fire company took delivery of a 95′ Seagrave Aerialscope aerial ladder truck. The fire company has operated an aerial truck for the past 30 years, but this unit is the first to be purchased as a brand new piece of apparatus that was custom built for Neshannock. The new apparatus will bear the designation Truck Company 158 and it joins Engine Company 153 and Rescue Company 150 as members of the fleet that were manufactured by FWD Seagrave of Clintonville, Wisconsin.

The days following the arrival of the new apparatus have been spent installing radio communication systems and mounting various tools throughout the truck. This piece of apparatus features a 95′ aerial platform capable of carrying firefighters to upper floors and carrying victims to safety. A waterway extends the entire length of the aerial boom which carries water to a nozzle at the tip capable of delivering 1000 gallons per minute of water onto large fires. In addition to the 95′ aerial platform, the unit also carries a multitude of ground ladders, ventilation equipment, forcible entry tools, and a variety of other fire service gear.

The Seagrave Aerialscope model was selected for its long history of quality and the durability of its design. New technology such as automated stabilization, overload protection, and computerized diagnostics add modern conveniences to the truck’s principle design features that have been trusted by large fire company’s such as FDNY for nearly 40 years.

The fire company wishes to thank the Neshannock Township Supervisors in their support of this purchase that will serve Neshannock Township and surround communities for decades to come.
