TOWNSHIP OF NESHANNOCK
LAWRENCE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
ORDINANCE NO. 2007-1
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING ANY PERSON, EXCEPT THOSE SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZED, FROM OPENING, TAMPERING WITH, COVERING, DISGUISING, OR INTERFERING WITH ANY FIRE HYDRANT WITHIN THE TOWNHIP OF NESHANNOCK; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VOILATION THEREOF.
It is unlawful to for anyone but the Neshannock Township Board of Supervisors or the Neshannock Volunteer Fire Company to open, tamper with, cover, or disguise or in any manner interfere with fire hydrants within Neshannock Township.
“Cover” or “Disguise” means any activity near, or alteration of, a fire hydrant or its immediate surroundings that covers, hides or hinders the visibility of the hydrant from the road. Terms include but not limited to forms of planting, painting, defacement, landscaping, decoration, leaves, grass, ornaments or snow accumulation by plowing.
It is illegal for anyone but the Neshannock Township Board of Supervisors and the Neshannock Volunteer Fire Company to open or draw water from any hydrants except for the purpose of fire fighting without a written consent of the proper authorized representatives.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating this ordinance, upon conviction in a proceeding before a District Justice will be sentenced to pay the costs of prosecution and a fine between $100.00 – $1,000.00. Default payments will result in imprisonment allowed by the law.
